Therapy begins!

The team had a heartwarming weekend Running 4 groups, and totaling 30 people, we began the planning stages of the mural, while offering a community a safe space to express themselves. Guardians were able to get support while the children were in group sessions.

St Henry's has agreed to host group art therapy sessions for children, families, teachers and other community members of Uvalde in their community center for the duration of the project.

Cynthia Perez of La Peña and Wanda Montemayor from Community Arts agreed to launch the Uvalde Love Project in response to the school tragedy in Uvalde, TX on May 24, 2022.

Location for mural wall chosen

In conjunction with Uvalde Parks Director, Robert Fowler, a wall at the pavilion at Jardin De Los Heroes Park has been chosen to install a mosaic mural. This mural will be created by members of the community during Art Therapy group sessions.

After consulting with artists, art therapists, mental health professionals and Uvalde community leaders, Wanda Montemayor launches the Uvalde Love Project.
